Frequently Asked Questions
What is coaching?
A unique, structured relationship between a coach and a client wherein both parties actively collaborate and engage in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires the client to maximize their personal or professional potential.
Note: Coaching is not mentoring, training, consulting, or therapy.

Why is executive or leadership coaching different from life coaching?
Executive coaching is specifically structured to help an organizational leader, supervisor, or administrator improve their leadership and management skills, prepare for and ease into a position of increased responsibility, or overcome an identified challenge.  Often, the leader's need for coaching is reflected in the organization's performance and may even be impacting the organization's bottom line.  In executive coaching, the organization may hire the coach to assist the leader and just as often, an executive may hire the coach privately without the organization's knowledge.

What are coaching sessions like?
We work one on one in repeating sessions, weekly, bi-weekly or even monthly.  Most clients prefer telephonic sessions but other options are available.  Times for phone calls are based on US Eastern Standard Time (EST). Sessions are usually one hour and can be adjusted to meet client needs.

What is group coaching?
Group coaching is a great way to get coached on a specific topic and also benefit from the experience and knowledge of others in the group.  Some of my coaching groups include small business owners/ entrepreneurs, and those seeking career change.  Group coaching allows you to take advantage of the benefits of coaching at a more economical rate.

How long does coaching take?
Most clients find that they need at least three to six months of coaching for best results - but the client controls the relationship so the amount of coaching depends on the objective and extent of change the client desires.

Why should I use an ICF credentialed coach?
Coaches are not regulated by government, so anyone can say they are a coach.  The International Coach Federation leads the profession by creating a community of international coach professionals and setting standards for member coaches to abide by.  The ICF established core competencies, standards of practice and require their credentialed coaches to attend mentor coaching, be supervised and complete a specified number of hours of education - a process that can take two or three years to complete.

How do we meet for coaching sessions?

Nearly all coaching is conducted over the phone.  This allows both client and coach to have great flexibility in scheduling. Additionally, I have clients throughout the United States and around the world.  Zoom calls are an option as well.

What is your privacy policy?
I take your privacy seriously - I do not share or sell any personal information.   Coaching sessions are held in the strictest confidence and protected to fullest extent of the law (exceptions apply for third party coaching agreements).
